Our 2019 Interim Program Site: Poland Spring Resort
In 2019 The Ecology School’s residential programs will be at the historic Poland Spring Resort in Poland, Maine. This year-long site shift will provide a comfortable, safe, and incredibly beautiful space to conduct our school programs while dormitory and dining commons construction at our new, permanent home at River Bend Farm moves forward.
Poland Spring Resort
Poland Spring Resort is one of Maine’s most historically vibrant resorts. Originally constructed in the late 18th century, the small inn expanded to a destination resort for the fashionable elite during glory days of the 19th century, popularized by touting the health benefits of the property’s spring waters. Today, the stunning natural features of the landscape and quiet solitude of rural Maine still draws summer visitors from around the world to this incredible site. The Ecology School program participants will be treated to resort-quality accommodations after spending their days deeply immersed in field-based ecological lessons. An expansive recreational area gives students a multitude of options for free time including plenty of grassy open space, volleyball, swings, basketball, and more!
