Saco, Maine (December 19, 2018) — The Ecology School received a generous gift of $25,000 from the Quimby Family Foundation supporting the establishment of a sustainable environmental education center and agroecology farm at River Bend Farm, the School’s 105-acre property in Saco, Maine. Through the construction of a remarkable place that embodies sustainability, models conservation, and promotes holistic human contact with nature, The Ecology School at River Bend Farm will strengthen its commitment to fostering environmental stewardship to its more than 12,000 yearly participants.
"The Quimby Family Foundation is a dedicated partner in providing thousands of students, teachers, parents, and community members with unique and fully immersive opportunities to explore important connections to the environment. It’s not often people can put away technology and open themselves up to enriching, hands-on experiences in nature. The Ecology School at River Bend Farm will give everyone—from ages 3 to 100— the space and the place to do just that. We are honored by the continued leadership and support of the Quimby Family Foundation and are indebted to their generosity.” – Drew Dumsch, President and CEO of The Ecology School
