SACO — The Ecology School has received a generous sponsorship of $2,500 from L.L. Bean that will support an immersive training program for the upcoming Spring 2018 education staff.
The Ecology School (TES) is a residential outdoor education organization designed to foster stewardship for the Earth by educating youth and adults in environmental science and conservation. TES delivers its mission through week-long residential programs and day-long field trips for entire grade levels, as well as through professional development for teachers, outreach programs to schools, summer camps for families, and ecology education publications.
Each Spring and Fall term, a talented and dedicated staff of 15 educators brings The Ecology School’s innovative programs to life. These educators come from across the country to learn best practices in teaching environmental education. Support from L.L. Bean ensures that TES will continue to offer cutting edge outdoor education to 12,000 students and teachers each year across Maine and New England, including 40 percent from low-income schools.
“Our programs inspire students to make wise, well-informed decisions as they assume their role as stewards of the Earth,” says Executive Director Drew Dumsch. “We are very pleased to partner with L.L. Bean to train the next generation of environmental leaders.”
